On Monday septemeber 14th Ahmed Mohammed bought a clock to school to show his teacher, who then called the police and they arrived and arrested him. After this the story gained alot of attention on social media, with many celebrates tweeting him, even Barack Obama sent him a message of support. This was all blamed on Islamophobia and people were quick to call the school and the police force racist and Islamophobic.

This all sounds like a nice story about a young genius boy beating racism, but as more details imerged it some suspicious things surfaced about the event and Ahmeds family and the clock itself.

Ahmeds “Homemade” clock

Ahmeds father is a controverisal figure who has run for president of Sudan twice and attended a mock trail about the Quran.

Mohamed Elhassan is also a slef proclaimed Sheik but he isn’t reconised by any Muslim leaders in America. On the day of the incident Ahmeds father encouraged him to bring the clock in and show the teachers, even Ahmed knew it was suspicious, in an interview he said he closed his clock with a cable instead and he said “I closed my clock with a simple cable, to avoid it looking suspicious.” So he knew that the clock looked odd. Now Ahmed said in an interview that he only showed it to one teacher, but this is false. He showed the first teacher who said “Cool clock, don’t show it to anyone else.” Then he showed all the other teachers, before plugging it into the wall in english class where it started beeping and his english teacher took it and gave it to the principle and he then called the police, who knew it wasn’t a bomb but wanted to investigate anyway. Ahmed wouldn’t explain to the police what the clock was
